“Glinda the Good Witch” - otherwise known as Apple Shed Restaurant owner Mary Lou Vachon - spreads good cheer with her wand as members of Bakersfield's Griffith Construction crew and Apple Shed employees get into the Halloween spirit. As part of the Main Street Tehachapi expansion of upgrades east from the downtown core, the crew is working on municipal street and sidewalk improvements on Tehachapi Boulevard in front of the restaurant as well as in front of Taco Samich. Both restaurants are open for business during the construction. Instead of considering it an annoyance, Vachon is making the temporary disruption fun, drawing her employees and the construction workers together in easing the way for customers as they navigate around the cones and the trenching. Front row from left, “Cowardly Lion” Amy Babula, Mark Niggle, Eddie Machado and (face obscured) Birdie Warren.
