The Jacobsen Middle School gym was a flurry of activity last Sunday, with over 50 girls trying out for four different levels of club volleyball.

The Starlings program is fortunate to have some of the most brilliant volleyball minds in the program, with Leanna Delgadillo (14s), Johnny Macon (15s), Renn Amstead (16s) and Jill Riddle (18s) recently named as the head coaches for each respective team.

Due to the high volume of girls participating, the 15s team was recently added to the club lineup. Johnny Macon, the newly-named head coach, is a veteran coach and teacher that recently transferred to the Tehachapi area with his family from Las Vegas.

The Starlings are encouraged by the enthusiasm, talent and strong sense of community exhibited by everyone involved. The club would like to extend a special thanks to Sally White (Tehachapi High head coach), Jeff Nunnally, Brian Borst, Rudy Delgadillo, Hannah Craig, Tracy Lankin, Tom Shea, Andrew Borst and the coaches, players and parents.

The Starlings planning committee would like to remind all players to submit their paperwork and deposit to their coaches. Practices will be scheduled after the Thanksgiving holiday.
