Southern California Edison's planned power outage Tuesday night and Wednesday morning went a few hours over schedule because of problems in an underground vault, according to Edison spokesperson Cathy Hart.
The overnight outage to energize a new circuit was scheduled to be completed by 6 a.m., Hart said.
"The businesses and residences were notified a couple of weeks ago," Hart said. "the planned outage from was 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. In this case we ran into problems in an underground vault that delayed it a few hours further.
"It affected 550 customers."
She said the company notified the city and local agencies about the delay.
Hart said the work added the second new circuit in a year to meet power demand in the Tehachapi area.
