Tehachapi Community Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. David Newby, is pleased to announce that local resident Augustin Zehnder has won the Orchestra's 2009 Young Artist Competition and will perform the first movement of Beethoven's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra with the Community Orchestra.

The concert featuring Zehnder will be performed twice: on Saturday, May 16, at 4 p.m. at the Middle School Auditorium in California City and on Sunday, May 17, at 4 p.m. at Country Oaks Baptist Church, 20915 Schout Rd., Tehachapi. The Orchestra will round out the program with Beethoven's Symphony No. 8 and selections from Franz Joseph Haydn's The Creation, featuring the Tehachapi Symphonic Chorus, under the direction of Kathy Kelly.

As is the Community Orchestra's long-standing practice, both of these concerts will be presented free to the public.
