On Sunday, May 31, Tehachapi Community Congregational Church will dedicate a Peace Pole that has been erected adjacent to the sanctuary. The pole is situated in the water-wise memorial garden which was planted by church members and friends. Members of the community are invited to attend the dedication ceremony at 11:30 and the potluck meal which follows.

The Peace Pole proclaims the words “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in six different languages-English, Spanish, Hebrew, Arabic, Korean and Kawaiisu. It also contains the words in Braille. By planting the Peace Pole in this community, the congregation links themselves with people all over the world who have planted Poles in the spirit of peace.

More than 200,000 Peace Poles have been placed around the world. They are on all continents and in most countries. Often they mark places where wars were waged and hatred prevailed. They stand in hope of healing conflicts and creating a peaceful world.

The Peace Pole project was started by the world Peace Society, a non-profit, non-sectarian organization dedicated to uniting people across the world. Tehachapi Community Congregational Church has erected the Pole as a symbol of hope that peace will prevail in Tehachapi, in the nation, and across the globe.

Tehachapi Community Congregation Church is located at the corner of Green and E streets. On Sunday, May 31, the regular 10:30 service will be held prior to the dedication at 11:30. For further information you may call the church office at 822-4443.
