Commemorate our nation's independence this July by celebrating two great American institutions - the family farm and Ford.

Admission to Murray Family Farms is free throughout the month of July to any family arriving in a Ford (or any American-made car) - and it doesn't matter how many you cram into the car. Plus, there's a free hayride with every free Ford admission.

July 3 - 5, new model Fords will be on display at the farm, where kids and their parents will enjoy red, white and blue ice cream sundaes for just 99 cents. The petting zoo and giant ant farm are up and running and the farm's pick-your-own-fruit fields are full, ripe and ready.

There are plenty of fruit varieties to pick from at Murray Farms, located 20 minutes east of Bakersfield at Highway 58 and General Beale Road. Fat figs, plumb blueberries, and juicy Murrayberries (a hot-climate raspberry) are in season, as are a variety of stone fruits - apricots, pluots and white and yellow peaches and nectarines.
Inside the big red barn are seedless red and pineapple watermelons, gift flats of fresh fruit and homemade fruit pies, cobblers and fudge.

Want to start a new family tradition? Join Murray Family Farms for an all-American Ford of July.
