When Ervine H. Brown moved to Tehachapi, the medals he won in World War II went missing. He contacted U.S. Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Bakersfield, who arranged to replace Brown's medals.

Brown was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the American Defense Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the European -African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and the Air Medal.

On Thursday, Aug. 13, McCarthy presented Brown with those medals in a ceremony at McCarthy's Bakersfield office.

Brown served in the United States Army Air Corps from June 20, 1940 to Oct. 31, 1945. The Air Corps was the predecessor to the Air Force.
