Arson suspected in Tuesday morning fires

Keene, CA – Tuesday September 29, 2009 at approximately 3:08 A.M., calls were received by Kern County Fire Department for six separate grassfires along Caliente-Bodfish Road and Bena Rd.

Approximately 60 Kern County Fire Fighters were assigned to the incident including 3 patrols, 1 engine, 3 hand crews, 2 water tenders due to limited water supply, and Helicopter 408.

The Bear Fire burned approximately 237 acres and is at 100 percent containment. No injuries or structure losses have been reported.

The fire has been determined to be arson due to incendiary devices located at the incidents.

An Arsonist started the Station Fire in LA county which resulted in millions of dollars in lost homes and supression costs as well as two lives! Arson is not a BIT funny. an arsonsist could cost you everything you own as well as a loved one.
