Tehachapi secured the outright South Sequoia League championship this past Friday afternoon with a convincing 49-18 victory over Arvin.

Leading the way in the win column for the Braves was freshman Jorge Garcia, who torched the Bears for 206 yards on nine carries and three touchdowns, while Brian Castaneda had 73 yards on nine attempts and a second-half score.

Other contributors included Bobby Howell, who went 3-4 passing for 34 yards and two touchdowns, one on the ground and one on a pass play to Blake Delwisch on a 34 yard score.

Travaris Williams also had 31 yards on five carries and a touchdown.

On defense, Jack Blewett had six tackles, David Lara had four tackles, Ian Brown had three tackles, and Austin Scarbrough and Cody Hall had quarterback sacks.

The Braves finished with an 8-2 (5-0 SSL) record overall, with the program recording its seventh league championship since 1997

Tehachapi also solidified their claim as an SSL dynasty with its fifth title in the new century.
