"I'm Illegal. So what?"

Organizers said Tuesday's turnout  for a protest march will be lower because stepped-up raids in recent months have left many immigrants afraid to speak out in public — a major change over rallies in 2006 when some illegal immigrants wore T-shirts saying "I'm illegal. So what?"  They Spit in the face of our Country's Laws, and we sit by while our leaders do not do enough, While our Governor wants to give them even more free medical care,,,,,,,Sometimes I think the world has turned upside down,,,,,,

A Sad Parallel...

I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch and filled it with seed.  Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food.

But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the barbecue. Then came the poop. It was everywhere:  on the patio tile, the chairs, the table...everywhere. Then some of the birds turned mean: They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket. And others birds were boisterous and loud: They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food.

After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch anymore. I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio.  Soon, the back yard was like it used to be...quiet, serene and no one demanding their rights to a free meal.

Now let’s see...our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care, free education and allows anyone born here to be an automatic citizen. Then the illegals came by the tens of thousands. Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are housing 5 families: you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor: you child's 2nd grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn't speak English: Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box; I have to press "one" to hear my bank talk to me in English, and people waving flags   other than "Old Glory" are squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties.

Maybe it's time for the government to take down the bird feeder

Here in an interesting website on illegal immigration:

http://immigrationcounters.com/

Not sure if it is bogus or how accurate it is, but there is a fairly comprehensive section on their data sources http://immigrationcounters.com/datasource.html

I listened to a radio reporter interviewing some school kids that skipped school to attend rallies in LA.  One child of "Pending Amnesty" parents said she wants better schools because the one she attends in LA has holes in the walls.  One young man of, you guessed it... "Pending Amnesty" parents said he is tired of people picking on his parents just because they are here ILLEGALLY.  These poor kids needed to be in school and their parents need to take the necessary steps to become citizens.  That would end the "picking" and if the are LEGAL perhaps they can earn a better wage so tax revenue can be diverted from their welfare to the schools.

aero, I expect the Dems will win as well.  I know Bush won't do anything about illegals and IF the Dems don't  when they have full power, I will not vote for them anymore in the future either.  Dabnabbit, I'm so sick of all our attention going to the Iraq War and not addressing larger problems like illegals and a lack of  homeland security.

aero,  I can just SCREAM.   Ya know?   Bush's administration is totally pissing me off.  The only hope I see is that the Dems do seem to want to do what we the people are asking of them, They can obviously be swayed to move on this, but we have to push them aero.  They won't do anything unless we write them with our concerns and hit high in the polls because they don't want to lose voters either.   What we need to say to our leaders, Republican and Democratic is that they will lose the majority of their voters (legal citizens of America) if they don't deal with this issue...and dabnabbit, let's set a time table for this to be done.  lol

We need a major change in America.  I think that we can all agree on.

Sparks, I expect Dems will win in 08 and I hope they do something about this, if they do, they will have all my praise and everyone else's,,,
VtKid write to your congress http://www.congress.org/congressorg/home and your representatives http://www.house.gov/ and don't forget your senator http://www.senate.gov/.    Doing what the people/voters want is becoming popular again to politicians, as it should be.  Use your strength and write to the people who want your vote.
aero   I love this fwd...  I too received this email from a friend and I have sent it to many of my friends.   Can't get any clearer than that!!!!   Luckily this is one issue both Democrats and Republicans agree on, hopefully congress will have time to address it soon.  This issue has been neglected for too many years. We shouldn't be hiring illegals, giving them a reason to come here in the first place. We shouldn't be paying for their health care unless it's an emergency and we shouldn't be schooling illegals.  Bush says most of the 12 million illegals that are here already will become citizens if they have a clean record and he will still have a greencard working program.  OK,  I understand that, and I am ok with that.  BUT, we need a reform plan NOW.    If we don't stop catering to illegals there will be 12 million more within a decade.  If Bush is really worried about terrorism why do we still have open borders, and why the heck are we wasting time building a fence?  A fence, that's the stupidest thing I have ever heard of.  lol  We need to stop encouraging illegals to come here, we need to take down the birdhouse so that illegals will stop coming over here.   We need people with brains in the white house and we need them soon.
LuvMyKats, no, I can't take credit for writing that analysis of Illegals, it's an Email that going around now,,,,,,but I sure agree with it!!
Aero did you write that analysis of the bird feeder? I would love to send it out in an email to some friends. Its brilliant! I think you are on the right track don't vote for those in favor of legalizing illegals and get that mayor of San Francisco out of office. And yes I do support the NG to patrol our border its time we think of our own people and take care of ourselves.
VTkid,  yes, I like the idea of a "Legal march", maybe politicians would sit up and take notice,,,,,,interesting side note,  the mayor of San Fransisco,  the epicenter of Liberal politics, says his city is a sanctuary city for Illegals, and he will not take any action against them,,,,,I wonder what our own liberals here think about their party doing this?, Lori?, Sparks?, oohchild?, what is your answer to this issue?, do you support putting more national guard on the Border?, I do, and step up deportation of the ones that are here,,,
Aero, the story is an accurate parallel, unfortunately. Do you think if the "legals" were to march and show our strength would we get TV and radio air time? Watch the TV coverage tonight and think about that. Or do we even have any strength? With all the politicians looking for everyone elses vote, are we just background noise? I think all it would take is one politician to take this position and pound it up through the ranks. Or a massive email/letter campaign? What is the best avenue - anybody??

We have to step up to the plate and apply OUR own brand of economic pressure. That means BOYCOTT any Establishment (do you know how to spell local restaurants?) that not only employ illegals, but give them the day off to go and march in the streets and make a mockery of our laws. Here is just ONE sorry statistic and I'm sure many of them are out marching right now:

95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.

Jim Richards
A good answer would be for all of us to tell any politician running for any state or federal office, that if they do not enforce our border laws, then we do not vote for them,,,,,,,,hmmm, but none of them would do that, they want the Mexican vote,,,,we lose again,, Arnold got elected on an anti Illegal drivers license platform,,,,,,,now he has flip-flopped on illegal issues, we lose again, and the illegals win,,,,and I'm afraid it's only going to get worse,
I just want to know what part of "ILLEGAL" do people not understand? ILLEGAL immigrants are breaking the law by being here ILLEGALLY. If I was caught speeding I would be breaking the law and I would have to pay the consequences  because I was doing something ILLEGAL. If an ILLEGAL immigrant is here in the States they are breaking the law and should also have to pay the consequences.

Amen to all of the above. Maybe we should show them the power of OUR economic backlash:

LOS ANGELES - Through their citizen children, illegal immigrants in Los Angeles County collect $420 million annually in welfare and food stamps, according to a report requested by 5th District County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services told the supervisor that payments to illegal immigrants' children amount to approximately 24% of the county's combined CalWORKS and food stamps budget, officials said.

"What we found was kind of astonishing," said Tony Bell, an Antonovich aide.

Each month, the county doles out $77 million in CalWORKS assistance, $20 million of which goes to the citizen dependent children of illegal immigrants, said Helen Berberian, another Antonovich aide. CalWORKS is the state's welfare-to-work program.

Along with CalWORKS assistance, the county approves $70 million every month in food stamps, with $15 million going to legal children of illegal immigrants, Berberian said.

The welfare payments go to nearly 100,000 children of 60,000 illegal immigrants, Antonovich's staff said. His staff estimated that Los Angeles County has almost 12% of the United States' illegal immigrant population.

The welfare payments are just a portion of the impact from illegal immigrants and their children, Antonovich said.

"Illegal immigration continues to have a devastating impact on Los Angeles County taxpayers," Antonovich said in a statement. "When the nearly one-half billion dollars spent on health care is added to the costs of public safety and health care, this brings the total cost to nearly $1 billion a year. This does not include the skyrocketing cost of education."

According to Antonovich's office, illegal immigrants annually cost the county $360 million in health care and $220 million in incarceration costs.

Antonovich has spoken to Congress several times about ways to mitigate the country's illegal immigration problem, including the repeal of at least part of the 14th Amendment.

"We would like to see the repeal of the amendment giving citizenship to children born in the U.S.," Bell said. "The purpose was to ensure that freed slaves were granted citizenship to rectify the evils of slavery, not to provide illegal immigrants with a legal way into our country through childbirth."

State Sen. George Runner said such a move "is a very worthy issue to be addressed."

"Just because you are born here, does it automatically give you the right to citizenship?" Runner said. "I think it's worth of having the discussion."

Antonovich also has proposed a bonded guest worker program.

"Bonded guest workers would have a bond to cover costs incurred while working in the United States," Bell said.

Those bonds would cover health care and other major expenses, Bell said, adding that many illegal immigrants come to California because they can get free medical care.

Bell said Antonovich will continue to work with state and federal leaders. Runner said that might be all the supervisor can do, as he is outnumbered by his fellow supervisors.

"With health insurance, I know L.A. County does go ahead and pay beyond what the state would pay," Runner said. "I know Mike opposes that, but the problem is, he's like me in that he has a majority on his board that is willing to pay out those benefits."
