It turns out that I have election fever. I have slowly de-evolved to the point where, in my off time, I am almost exclusively watching politics.
On Saturday I watched the debates on ABC. All four hours of them.
Then on Sunday I sat down for the Republican forum on Fox.
As a matter of fact, I think I've only missed one televised debate so far this season.
I watch CNN, Fox, MSNBC and CSPAN. You'd think I had a relative in the race.
It's exciting. The more you listen, the more you realize exactly how big an impact the nominee has on your life.
My DH and I have already agreed on sandwiches for dinner tonight so we can watch the New Hampshire primary results.
Anyone else out there have the fever?

Why, thank you weebles! LOL!!
I think $90.00 was the highest I ever paid for a haircut. I actually just heard of his pricey hairdo and read or heard that he promised not to do it again. :o)
madkow, if you're nuts, you're in good company!!!
The Foundation for Taxpayer and Consumer Rights
At the BlogHer Convention
And as for the $300 hair cut...well, I suppose I have to come clean. I've had a $250 hair cut on a couple of occasions, and being focused on that is just what I was talking about earlier. Folks have been told that his hair cut should be an issue so that they don't pay attention to what he has to say. JMHO.
And joty, should you ever decide to apply for Queen of the World, you can list me as a character reference.
As much as I dislike what Obama says, I do have some respect for him as a person (from what I know of him). Respect for Hillary? A little, but not a lot. I respect the fact that she's a damn smart woman and she has done quite a bit with her life.
I don't so much care who gets in this November because I think the country will be fine regardless. I'm a big believer in the pendulum effect. Lately I've been developing this "bar theory" to figure out what I think of politicians. If I met Edwards in a bar, I'd pay my bill and leave without even finishing my drink. If I met Bush, I'd kick my feet up, tell some dirty jokes, and sneak away when I got bored. If I met Bill Clinton, I'd hang out drinking martinis, and give him a fake phone number when I leave. If I met McCain, I'd let him down a few beers, listen to a few war stories, then sneak away. If I met Obama, I'd listen to him tell some funny stories, but if he started on politics, I'd excuse myself to the little girls room and sneak out the back. I can't figure out Hillary, I think because I can't see her hanging out at a bar.
OK, I think I really am going nuts if I actually think about people this way... Joty- go be queen so I don't have to think!!
I'm so tired of the f**king media. I hope they all like the taste of crow...
Hillary is beat up and accused of acting like a man, then she gets beat up and accused of acting like a woman. But she got the last laugh in NH didn't she?
I lost all respect for Edwards when he chose to continue his campaign when his wife became ill. Oh yeah, and his $300.00 haircut, lol. madkow, he is a pretty boy...does that work for him or against him?
I'm telling you guys, I should be Queen of the World!!!
When I watch news on TV I usually watch either BBC, CNN, or some French news program (it has subtitles!). As I mentioned in a previous post, I am sometimes forced to watch FOX News, and I cringe then entire time unless it's Cavuto, who I don't mind listening to. I read from LiveScience sometimes too. I like health news a lot for some reason. Kinda weird.
Vader- I was an HComm in college too :)
I'll address the corruption that was posted by someone else and you cut and pasted Starbucks. What was listed has NOTHING to do with Hillary Clinton's candidacy for president. What you listed has to do with BILL CLINTONS administration. Who are individuals and businesses associated with the Clinton Machine? What are the crimes they plead guilty to? Who fled the country and pleaded the 5th amendment? And to what charges were they being indicted of? Did Hillary plead guilty to anything on this list? No. What does Al Gore’s fundraising or Clinton/Gore fundraising have to do with Hillary Clinton? None of this is substantial information that indicates that Hillary Clinton can not be a good candidate for president.
Sounds like a few of you follow politics pretty regularly. Where do you get your news? I've mentioned a few of mine; MSNBC, Fox, CNN, CSPAN. I also read a bunch of web sites, like the BBC News site and OneWorld.net to get more of a global perspective on our process.
Where do you find the facts that form your opinion?
For the record, I don't dislike Hillary. I find her a strong and capable woman. But I won't vote for her unless I have to. Why? Because I don't think that having just two families in power for over 20+ years is good for the country as a whole. That's it. No rhetoric, no dogma. I just don't think it's right.
Of course, my guy stands no shot of getting elected. In the primary, I will be throwing my support towards Edwards. Just about every ill we currently have as a society can be traced back to the fact that there are giant corporations that own almost everything we see, hear and read. Loss of jobs? Check. Quality of goods? Check. Medical care? Check. Cost of utilities? Check.
A tiny percentage of the American population have nearly all of the wealth and the overwhelming majority of us are struggling to get by. And we're told by these corporations that it's our fault. Or worse yet, the ubiquitous their fault, whoever they are.
And in the meantime, these same companies prey on the fears of Americans by drumming up scenario after scenario designed to cause division and angst among us, the citizens of this country, so they can continue robbing us blind while we fight amongst ourselves over some of least important things in the world. Just the way the billionaires want it.
My guy's not going to win, but I'm giving him my vote for having the courage to try.
Ok Vader, this took me all of 10 seconds to find online, I typed in Clinton Corruption on Google,
The Clintons, to adapt a line from Dr. Johnson, were not only corrupt, they were the cause of corruption in others. Yet seldom in America have so many come to excuse so much mendacity and malfeasance as during the Clinton years. Here are some of the facts that have been buried.
The only president ever impeached on grounds of personal malfeasance
- Most number of convictions and guilty pleas by friends and associates*
- Most number of cabinet officials to come under criminal investigation
- Most number of witnesses to flee country or refuse to testify
- Most number of witnesses to die suddenly
- First president sued for sexual harassment.
- First president accused of rape.
- First first lady to come under criminal investigation
- Largest criminal plea agreement in an illegal campaign contribution case
- First president to establish a legal defense fund.
- First president to be held in contempt of court
- Greatest amount of illegal campaign contributions
- Greatest amount of illegal campaign contributions from abroad
- First president disbarred from the US Supreme Court and a state court
Number of individuals and businesses associated with the Clinton machine who have been convicted of or pleaded guilty to crimes: 47
- Number of these convictions during Clinton's presidency: 33
- Number of indictments/misdemeanor charges: 61
- Number of congressional witnesses who have pleaded the Fifth Amendment, fled the country to avoid testifying, or (in the case of foreign witnesses) refused to be interviewed: 122
As of June 2000, the Justice Department listed 25 people indicted and 19 convicted because of the 1996 Clinton-Gore fundraising scandals.
- According to the House Committee on Government Reform in September 2000, 79 House and Senate witnesses asserted the Fifth Amendment in the course of investigations into Gore's last fundraising campaign.
-James Riady entered a plea agreement to pay an $8.5 million fine for campaign finance crimes. This was a record under campaign finance laws.
And on and on and on,,,,,,http://prorev.com/legacy.htm
Vader would like to know "what type of corruption the Clintons are guilty of", good lord man, have you been in a cave since 1990?,
search the net Vader, there is plenty out there,,,,,,,,then again, if you are just in denial of the facts, then whats the point?
You should be a politician SB, you sure can dance around a question. Colin and Arnold are not candidates. And I'm still waiting for the name of a politician who hasn't been touched by scandal and/or corruption. And why are you bashing just Ms. Clinton if you don't like any of the current candidates?
If Obama is the nominated candidate, I will more than likely throw my support to him although he is too young and green for my tastes.
But in the long run, popular vote isn't what wins the election, remember Bush vs. Gore?
The poll by Mason-Dixon Polling and Research found that 52 percent of Americans wouldn’t consider voting for Clinton, D-N.Y. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, a Republican, was second in the can’t-stand-’em category, with 46 percent saying they wouldn’t consider voting for him.
Clinton has long been considered a politically polarizing figure who would be a tough sell to some voters, especially many men, but also Clinton-haters of both genders.
Thursday’s survey provides a snapshot of the challenges she faces, according to Larry Harris, a Mason-Dixon principal.
“Hillary’s carrying a lot of baggage,” he said. “She’s the only one that has a majority who say they can’t vote for her.”
Clinton rang up high negatives across the board, with 60 percent of independents, 56 percent of men, 47 percent of women and 88 percent of Republicans saying they wouldn’t consider voting for her.
and Madkow, thanks for joining in, but, be careful talking against Hillary here, you see what happens, all of a sudden your are afraid of strong women, and they are Bitches in all mens eyes, and on and on,,,,oh brother, what nonsense. its about her everyone, not all women!
http://www.againsthillary.com/2007/06/29/americans-against-hillary-more-than-half-wont-vote-for-hillary/
I can't vote in primaries- so you guys have to give me a decent selection for the big day!!! lol!
gube, I agree. All Starbucks can do is bash Hillary. Why? I find it funny that he will not answer your question (and you've asked several times) about who he supports or will vote for. Why? He doesn't seem very mature, posting unflattering pictures of her and calling her names. I don't support Obama, but I see no reason to bash, I prefer to debate his pros and cons. I've even taken to task several of my friends and family members who email that bullshit email about him being a Muslin.
Starbucks - name one politician that hasn't been touched by corruption or scandal. Why aren't you trying to convince voters that they shouldn't vote for Hillary with real arguements instead of your vague statements and namecalling?
I didn't say men hate strong women, I said they fear them.
Spam code: XEBOX
The Hildabeast sqeaked by in NH, she was up by double digits, what happened?, lets see how the other states go, I dont know why you Clinton lovers always go to men hate strong women, thats not the point at all, it's her history, so much scandal and corruption, do you really believe a word she says?, she still polls across the country that half of all americans will not vote for her no matter what, are all these people afraid of strong women?, no, they just know the truth, something many of you are in denial of.and its not just Fox that bashes Hillary, i've seen it everywhere, Chris Matthews had counted her out.
Hillary win I'm New Hampshire made me smile. People counted her out and thought she was toast after her third place finish in Iowa. The media puts to much emphasis on these on these early elections. Hillary's win upset alot of Clinton haters who can't stand looking at her. and i think that's funny. There is a long way to go and it is interesting to watch all the shows on FOX as they bash Hillary.
"...the most corrupt politician I have ever seen in my life,..." you must be awfully young.
Yeah, strong women are always bitches in a man's eyes...
GO Hillary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is so nice to see Hillary crash and burn, but encouraging to see the country come to its senses about her. Like Charleybyrd said,
"Hillary, I don't like her, i think she is a B------ , a shrew, and who knows what else", I know what else, the most corrupt politician I have ever seen in my life, hands down, if you can't see that, then you are either uninformed, or in complete denial.
It is somewhat exciting- I'm very curious about the NH vote today. The Iowa results were amazing. I mean, c'mon, Huckabee?? And I love that Obama beat Hillary! Those are the two I'm most curious about. I don't think there's much of a chance of a Republican getting elected, so I'm mostly just paying attention to the Democrats. Black president versus woman president! That's exciting!
I don't really have the fever, but i am watching it all very closely because i don't think we have any great choices. If i were republican i would want Mc Cain because i think he is very direct and no nonsense, also he is experianced and probably respected, but i don't want him because i think he would only be a continuation of George W. only with a brain.
Guillianni would never cut it on the world diplomacy. I'm afraid of Edwards, Huccabee, and Rommney because of their too out spokeness of religion.
Obama would probably make a good president, but maybe not because of his lack of experiance. This leaves Hillary, I don't like her, i think she is a B------ , a shrew, and who knows what else, but i believe Margeret Thacher was all that too and she was a woman the world didn't mess with and was good for G.B. I think Hillary will be the same, I hope she becomes our next president
Nope. I'm waiting for the two political parties to decide who they're putting up before I invest my time in the candidates.
