??? Found this intresting.....

This was listed in the City Council Agenda for August 6th. I found this info interesting. While I'm not totally against it I'm curious what exactly we are giving them and was it offered to Kern County Fire Dept. first??

*16.    Authorization for the City to donate certain items no longer necessary for City operations to the Bakersfield College Fire Academy – ADOPT RESOLUTION 31-07 AUTHORIZING THE DISPOSITION OF PERSONAL PROPERTY

Thanks for the info Willow! You should unlock your profile and let us know who you are.
The equipment in question was indeed offered to the County first. When they stated that they did not want certain items, those were set aside for donation to Bakersfield College Fire Academy. Please do not start attacking before you have all of the facts.
If it was bought for Tehachapi, it should stay in Tehachapi! I was told it was a "Jaws-of-Life" and other 'Big" rescue tools. That stuff is worth 10's of thousands of dollars. It should have been left for use in town, if not by the county firefighters, it could have been given to Search and Rescue or CERT!
This is typical behavior from a bunch of immature people who's plan failed.  Wheres the "local control" in keeping the equipment in town?  Fact is by choosing KCFD you will get the equipment and people who actually have experience using it, So just let the city waist yet more of your money.  But with KCFD in charge at least you will get a real fire department.
I have been told that all the rescue gear bought by us, the city residents, will not be on the city fire truck bought by the county fire department. They have given it away. To the prison or BC who knows. I think if this stuff was paid by us to have in the city it should stay in the city. They are so pissed that they will not give any extra to the county station in Tehachapi. Even if it will help the city!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
