Stephanie Bettman & Luke Halpin Return to Hillybeans
Friday October 17th at 7pm
Tickets are $12 in advance $15 at the door Stephanie Bettman has the goods. A triple threat with her diverse songwriting, soulful vocals, and dynamite fiddling - all featured on her debut CD "GET CLOSE TO ME". She and her band are the grand prize winners of the 2008 Southern California Live Acoustic Music Band Competition, proclaiming them the "best live acoustic band in Southern California". Last year were they among the winners in the Topanga Banjo / Fiddle contest, and at the 2007 Sedona Bluegrass Festival, buzz on the street labeled her "the next Alison Krauss". Then there are those who say she reminds them of Joan Baez or Judy Collins. Stephanie is unique - with influences ranging from opera to funk to the golden era of country. Her music is infectious and joyful, and when her band chimes in with those soaring harmonies, audiences have been heard to gasp "wow". This project is the culmination of Stephanie’s lifelong love affair with the performing arts. Not only has she been playing music since childhood, she’s worked as an actress and producer in films, theater and commercials, written screenplays, and performed as a trapeze and circeau artist. Her talents have taken her from The Capistrano Valley Symphony to the National Theater Of Korea to the LA circus, and beyond.
Luke Halpin, is a mulit-talented multi-instrumentalist. Early in his career he was pegged as a "21year old phenom" by Southern California press. And since then he has gone on to work steadily as a studio musician in both Los Angeles and Nashville, and tour all over the country opening and sharing the stage with everyone from Lone Star to Merle Haggard. He has played mandolin and fiddle since childhood, and now in this collaboration he brings his guitar chops as well as his songwriting talent to the table. They are joined by Brian Netzley on bass and harmonies. Brian is a long time studio and live musician from Southern California and one of the best bass players around. He brings not only his solid bass but a beautiful voice to the mix. Stephanie's debut CD entitled "Get Close To Me" is here! For more information visit: www.stephaniebettman.com
