I was also really impressed by McCain's consession speach. You can truly tell he loves this country. The ungraciousness of the crowd, however, didn't come off nearly as well. I thought it was really impressive how he shot down their negativity so quickly and effectively. I have more respect for him now than I did throughout the entire campaign and I don't think we would have been in too much trouble had he become president -- unless something happened and Palin took over. I think Palin was the ultimate reason for the huge landslide win for Obama in the big states.
Obama's speech was really great as well. I was listening to it very skeptically in the beginning, but he managed to convince me he was genuine. Even how he hugged and kissed his family and friends in contrast to the McCain's was very noticeable. I hope he truly delivers on what he promises and that he still has the same passion he seems to exude after a few years under the gun! Right now I have a guarded hope that maybe he is the real deal. He has 4 years to convince me. He certainly seems to be much more moderate than any president in recent history and that is fine with me. Time will tell I guess. I thinks it's great that we are seeing the first black president (even if he's technically half white ironically but it says a lot that you are black irregardless). That's a pretty amazing thing I think and really spotlights how different views can be from even one generation and if nothing else its certainly a symbol of the ability of our country to adapt, despite all the haters of change. I was personally fond of the Kennedy-esque implication of "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." He managed to get that message in there without actually saying that line. Either he rocks or his script writers do. ;)

My husband and I went first thing this morning and the polling place was packed! Everyone was friendly, in a good mood and chatting while waiting in line. I think that this is the first time I have ever had to wait in line to vote. Of course, where we lived before I bet there was only a couple of hundred people in our precinct, and the poll workers there were usually crabby. I liked voting here much better even though it was so busy.
It made me very proud to see people patiently waiting in line to have their voice be heard and be part of the the process. What an exciting election, no matter what your stance is! I can hardly wait for results to start coming in this evening.

It was crazy at the polling place! Organized chaos, I guess you'd call it. My son kept trying to grab my ballot and pen and the sides of the cardboard booth- it was like a brawl in my little booth :)

I am so glad the election is over-now we can go back to reading Jim's feces tube dwelling rants. Another religious fanatic obsessed with orfices.
