Ok I know its been a few weeks, but I have been very busy over here. Not too much has been going on for me personally, Ive been lucky so far... The situation over here is getting a little bit more dangerous of late, but hey thats what we train for! I recently got assigned to our Battalion Sergeant Major as his gunner, thankfully I have alot of experience in the gunner's seat from my first deployment. I will be gone on a mission for the next three days, so just keep me in your thoughts. Again I thank you all for your support, it means the world to me and really reminds me what I am fighting for...
I just wanted to give you guys an example of how depraved the enemy were fighting over here is. This is a real tactic the enemy is using against us, and just last week we got our first taste of it... The enemies new tactic is to strap explosive vests or backpacks to mentally handicapped Iraqi civilians, and to send them toward American patrols. To use people who dont know any better, as living weapons is about the sickest thing I can Imagine... Its frustrating especially to us infantry men when the enemy is too cowardly to actually fight us... I hope that for those of you who think that there is no reason for us to be here see this as a wake up call... As long as people as evil as this exist American vigilance must be maintained...

Good Morning Son it was good to hear from you today. Mom was at work and I shared with her your gonna be gone for a week or so doing what your trained to do. I am Love you and will continue to keep you in my prayers as I know many others known and unknown pray for all of our service men and women. You have always made me proud from the very first day as a little boy and have grown into the man I have only desired to become. Your honorable Courage and gracious heart is a unique balance that only those who know you could ever understand. I pray asking for not only your safety but also your leaders and that you all may be given wisdom. What sets you and the others apart from any other standing Armed Forces is the Hearts of Americans are priceless and self giving. I often think of when you were working at Save Mart here in Tehachapi and then you made a conscious choice deciding to join the United States Army. You made a choice as so many others during wartime. Regardless of your thoughts of the war you choose to step up the the plate as so many others and and answer the calling of our nation in need. NOT ONCE HAVE I EVER HEARD YOU COMPLAIN. Even when you were supposed to be discharged 12-14-2007 after serving in Afghanistan and they gave you orders sending you to Baghdad until spring 2009 extending you 18 months like so many others. These men and women are a rare breed who sign on the dotted line joining up. I hope others read your Feb-03-2008 and realize what a powerful mission you all are doing. Yes I will never speak against our leaders nor protest the war. How can I make the call on Monday night if I did not train, study my opponents and myself being down on the field in that huddle. Then taking those orders and following them as a disciplined SOLDIER, COURAGEOUSLY. You choose to leave the comfort of home and serve with so many others wherever called. It is my continued prayer for you, your squad and leaders with you may all return safely. Remember that prayer you shared with me in the Berean Book store parking lot when you were just a lad for Salvation. It is He our Lord who sustains you and is the Author and perfector of our faith. I want others to know we are all just mere men in need of a Savior and it is Jesus Christ who we have placed our faith in for Salvation and your safe return home.
I live here in Tehachapi California and I know there are so many more men and women serving our nation here. I know there are many wonderful groups here supporting our troops in various ways and I thank you. Last week I was in the US Postal Office sending my son Matthew US Army and son inlaw Fortune Steele US Marine packages. Both are in Baghdad. The woman behind me in line seen where my packages were going and we spoke briefly. I ask her if she also supported our troops. She said yes she did, in fact she works with an organization which makes quilts for our service men and women. She softly said the quilts she makes for the families are for the fallen soldiers.
I was wondering is there a group or could we as tehachapians start a group pooling together our knowledge and reach out and touch every person serving from our community letting them all know we are there for them. I will look for responses and see if others are also looking to seek local support for our troops.

Spc. McCool... you and all your fighting buddies are supported by many, many Americans (despite what the media and anti-war protestors try to convey). Nobody wants war..... it's ugly and hurtful on many levels. Unfortunately, it becomes necessary at times. I'm proud of you and all of our troops who are there fighting in harm's way. I pray for your safety. Thank you for serving our country and keeping us safe here at home.
Thank you for doing what you do stay safe and come home soon. I am one of the Americans who fully support what you guys and gals are doing over there, I don't like war but I understand why we are there and support you. I see the news and they report only what they want us to see, thanks to the Internet and many of the soldiers sending reports home we get a more realistic idea of what is really happening.
God Bless
Keep your head down and bring yourself back home to us in one piece. And "thanks" for doing what you do.
