Geoffrey Lynn Pugh, 1944–2017

Geoffrey Lynn Pugh passed from an embolism on Oct. 6, 2017, at Adventist Health Bakersfield hospital. He was 73. Geoff’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Bear Valley Springs Equestrian Center on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, from 1 to 4 p.m., 26800 Bear Valley Road.

Geoff was born on Feb. 7, 1944, in Boulder, Colo. His parents, Pauliene and Verne, settled in Chico, Calif., when Geoff was 7 years old. He attended Chico State University and earned a bachelors of business psychology. Geoff was respected in the insurance industry as an expert and trainer in his area of specialty. Geoff married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Jane Miracle (Mindi), in 1965. They enjoyed nearly 53 years of happy marriage together. Mindi describes her marriage to Geoff as “being married to my best friend forever.”

Geoff is remembered for his vast knowledge and enthusiasm for all things relating to classic cars and street rods. He and Mindi attended countless Street Rod Shows and car cruises in their 1937 Oldsmobile convertible, and they were active in the Tehachapi Car Club. Geoff loved the serenity, friends and wildlife of Bear Valley Springs. Geoff was best known for his infectious sense of humor and his smile.

Geoff is survived by his wife, Mindi; and their two children, Marcie Venard and Michael Pugh; three grandchildren, Sara Medieros, Austin Medieros and Leilani Venard;, Marcie’s husband, John Venard; Michael’s partner, John Schratwieser; and two beloved rescue dogs.
