Janna Rae McLaughlin, 1954-2016

Janna Rae McLaughlin was born July 13, 1954, in Porterville to Coy and Velma Blair. Janna was one of three children, sisters Kay Blount, of Bakersfield, and Sharon Burke, of Tecumseh, Okla.

Janna was raised in Tehachapi where she attended Tehachapi High School and graduated in June of 1972. Janna then attended Bakersfield College, where she completed her associates degree in child development.

On May 8, 1976, Janna married her high school sweetheart, Tim McLaughlin of Tehachapi. On Oct. 1, 1978, Janna gave birth to her first child, Traci McLaughlin (Montgomery), and later her second child, Jeff McLaughlin, on July 21, 1980.

Janna and Tim remained in Tehachapi raising their children and supporting their community. Janna was a dedicated employee of the Tehachapi Unified School District, where she completed her 25-year career as the director of transportation.

Janna's greatest accomplishment in her life was her 40 years of marriage and her five grandchildren, Cade, Grant, Kellsie, Deegan and Jase. Janna and Tim enjoyed spending time with family, friends and traveling across the country meeting new people and seeing new places.

Janna always cherished her relationships with her extend Christian family, friends and her savior Jesus Christ. Janna deeply loved her church and passionately participated is numerous youth programs, always teaching others the importance of faith.

Janna departed this world for heaven surrounded by her family on Dec. 12, 2016, in Bakersfield. Janna is survived by husband Tim McLaughlin, Traci and Jeff Montgomery, Jeff and Roxanne McLaughlin, five grandchildren, sisters Kay Blount, and Sharon Burke, and several nieces and nephews. Janna was proceeded in death by her parents Coy and Velma Blair.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, at the Tehachapi Mountain Vineyard Church, located at 502 Piñon St., Tehachapi. In remembrance of Janna's life, a charitable donation may be made to the Tehachapi Mountain Vineyard Kid's Ministry.
