Louis Wayne Creten Sr. went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, after fighting a battle with cancer.

Lou was born in Gladstone, Mich., on Feb. 12, 1937, to Isadore and Ida Creten.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was married to Helen and then later was married to Maxine Lindal, who preceded him in death.

Lou will be remembered for his big smile, his kind heart, and his deep love for his family and his country. Lou enjoyed spending his time running the Friday night Bingo here in Tehachapi, volunteering with the American Legion, the Moose Lodge, and the VFW, and loving on his great-grandbabies.

Lou is survived by a large family, including siblings, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and so many friends, all of whom love and miss him dearly.

Services will be held at Tehachapi Mountain Vineyard, 502 East Pinon St., on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Lou's name to either the Tehachapi Cancer Foundation http://www.tehachapicancerfoundation.org/help.html or the Wounded Warrior Project https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org.

He will be laid to rest at 10:45 a.m. on Aug. 23, 2107, at Bakersfield National Cemetery, 30338 East Bear Mountain Blvd., Arvin, Calif.
