Susan “Susie” Marie Sagget Palmer was born July 13, 1957 in Lakeport, and graduated to heaven on March 9, 2017, in Tehachapi after a difficult fight with cancer.

Susie is survived by her parents, Lon and Barbara; children, Steve, Brian (and his wife, Cassie), and Zack; grandchildren, Ronnie, Tabitha (and her husband, Casey), Kitana, Alexandra, and John; great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Caden; sister, Sally and her sons, Jake and Kyle; and her many friends.

During Susie’s energetic youth, she cultivated a passionate love for music and singing. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and in the chorus at school.

As an integral part of our community, Susie graduated from Tehachapi High School and took a number of classes at Bakersfield College.

For 33 years, Susie worked for the state of California in Sacramento and with the Department of Corrections at the California Correctional Institution.

Upon retiring as an employee of the state, Susie purchased the Tehachapi Christian Bookstore and thrived with serving God and the community with this important Christian service. Additionally, for many years, Susie helped many people through the Celebrate Recovery ministry at the First Baptist Church. Her strong desire was for others to come to know the Lord and the forgiveness that He offers.

Beyond her service to the Lord, Susie’s great love was for her family. Spending time with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren, was the joy of her life.

Her family and friends already greatly miss her, but they rejoice that she is no longer in pain and is basking in God’s glorious presence.

Services will be held at Shepherd of the Hills on Friday, March 17, 2017, at 10:30 a.m.
