Tehachapi native Shawn Christopher Bachara entered into the eternal healing arms of God on June 12 at his home in Stallion Springs. Born on February 27, 1969, to parents Mary (Dee Dee) and Eddie Bachara, he spent an enjoyable childhood with his family, which included six children. He attended local schools and was a 1987 graduate of Tehachapi High School. His Native American heritage – Yaqui and Yokut – extends back in California history many generations.
In 1988 he started his 25-year career in the wind industry with Zond Systems as a young technician, with a surprisingly mature work ethic. He gained the deep respect of his supervisors and peers alike and was placed in numerous lead roles during his career, including commissioning lead on various projects for Zond and Enron Wind throughout the ‘90s. Those who worked with him knew him as a man of integrity who could be counted on. His reputation and vast experience with wind turbines ultimately led him to Green Energy Maintenance, where he would be called upon to provide training and mentoring support to inexperienced technicians. Many of the people Shawn worked with came to appreciate him and will forever miss his ability to work hard and have fun at the same time.
He is survived by his wife, Tracy; triplet daughters, Cheyanne, Chelsie, and Christa; as well as stepchildren, Brianna and Shanna McGuire, Curt McElrath and wife, Brentney, and Erica Cameron and husband, Lance. Also surviving are a brother, Frank and wife, Michelle; four sisters, Sandy Vasquez and husband, Paul, Teri Gracey and husband, Jim, Katie Phillips, and Robin Cummings and husband, Dale; plus numerous nieces and nephews. Close to his heart were step-grandchildren LynnLee, Clark, and Joslyn McElrath, and Mikey McGuire.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary (Dee Dee) and Edward Bachara; a sister, Patricia Kathleen Bachara; and grandparents, Joe and Mary Rodriguez.
His passion in life was work and helping people.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be Friday, June 21 at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Tehachapi. Wood Family Funeral Service is handling the arrangements. For condolences please visit woodmortuary.net.
