With a mix of heavy hearts and Godspeed, the Fites Family has observed the passing of Thomas "T.A." Fites, who returned to the arms of his beloved Mother, Ruth Fites, who he only knew in photos and story, as Ruth passed only three days post child birth.
T.A. is survived by his Wife Vera Mae Fites, married in 1957; children Rhonda Fites Miller, Tim Fites and his wife Terry, Ruth Fry; his nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
Born Nov. 29, 1939 in Pryor, Okla., then infant Thomas was relocated to California where he lived the remainder of his life. He was proud of his Veteran service, U. S. Army, and his short but distinguish career with the California Department of Corrections at Tehachapi and San Luis Obispo and the Federal Prison System.
His family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Hoffman Hospice for the wonderful care and concern given to T.A. through his final days.
A Celebration of Life was held Thursday Jan. 10 with Military Honors the following day at Bakersfield National Cemetery.
