Warren Douglas Johnson, former owner and editor of the Tehachapi News, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 6. He was 91 years old.
Warren was born in Montevideo, Minn., on Feb. 3, 1921, to Walter Leonard and Sarah Alma (Hanson) Johnson. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War, spending time in the Pacific Islands and Hawaii. In 1947, he married Barbara Ann Carr in Las Vegas, Nev. Warren was a long-time Tehachapi resident, having moved to the area 67 years ago.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara; children, Donald Dale Johnson of Danville, Susan Marie Husband of Bakersfield, and Ronald Douglas Johnson of Oaklawn, Ill.
An interment service with military honors was held on Thursday, Jan. 10, at Bakersfield National Cemetery in Arvin. The following day a memorial service celebrating Warren’s life was held at the Tehachapi First Baptist Church. Pastor Ron Barker officiated the services.
