Kenneth Lee Booker, a longtime resident of Tehachapi, went home to be with our Father in Heaven on Wednesday, Feb. 1. His family was with him as he passed peacefully at home following a long illness.
Kenneth Lee Booker was born in Yakima, Wash., on July 11, 1948, to parents Earl Marshall Booker and Helen Lenora Guthrie. Mr. Booker worked as a stock clerk in the grocery business and had done so for 13 years before retiring.
Mr. Booker served his country in the United States Air Force, serving in Germany during the time of the Vietnam War.
Ken was a family-oriented man and was very personable. He especially liked spending time with his children and grandchildren. Most everyone knew him because of the many stylish hats he wore. He was an avid fisherman, and also liked woodworking.
He is lovingly missed by his wife, Minnie Booker; children, Michael Booker and his wife, Jenny; Nicholas Booker and his wife, Kayla; and daughter, Karrie-Anne Ritchie and her husband, Bradley. Kenneth is also survived by eleven grandchildren, all of Tehachapi. Also surviving are brothers, Larry of Monterey, and Steve of Lubbock, Tx. There are also surviving sisters, Lila Earwood of Albuquerque, N.M., and Deanna Jackson of Lubbock, Tx.
Funeral services for Kenneth Lee Booker will be held Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at Tehachapi Church of Christ, 401 South Mill Street at 10 a.m. There will be a Celebration of Life luncheon after the church service, and burial will follow at Bakersfield National Cemetery at 2 p.m. Minister Russell Lawson will officiate.
Kenneth Booker was a man of great honor and was well respected by all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed by many family members and friends. Wood Family Funeral Service, Inc. of Tehachapi is in charge of arrangements.
