David Hamilton MacDonald entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Feb., 9, 2014. He was 73 years old. David was born in Boston, Mass., and moved to Whittier, at the age of four. He was a resident of Whittier, Rowland Heights, and Stallion Springs in Tehachapi.
David was the son of Joe and Alice MacDonald of Winthrop, Mass. He graduated from Cal High in 1958 and attended Los Angeles Pacific College. Dave was a reservist in the United States Coast Guard from 1961 to 1965. He met and married the love of his life, Judy Walker, at Youth for Christ Teen Ranch, at the age of 19. They were married on June 1, 1962. The couple celebrated their Golden Anniversary in 2012 with their children and grandchildren in Monterey.
Dave worked as a salesman in decals for over 50 years, which included decals for Air Force One, Donald Duck's 50th Birthday – on the side of a PSA plane, Sky Tower Ride at Sea World, markings on military and commercial planes, and labels for fruit growers in Kern County.
At the age of 16, Dave put his trust in the Lord Jesus Christ while at a church camp from Granada Heights Friends Church. He had a beautiful tenor voice and loved singing in the church choir for over thirty years, giving praise to the majesty and glory of his Lord and Savior – his eternal King.
Dave was an avid reader (especially of the Old West), a hunter, attended Mountain Man Rendezvous, and was on the National Honor Squad for skeet shooting. Dave was a member of the Biola University Basketball Hoop Club for many years, and a charter member of a men's "Lunch Bunch."
David is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judy; son, Scott and his wife, Kim; daughter, Mendy Christine; son, Ross and his wife, Leah; six grandchildren, Kari, Katelyn, Zackary, Joe, Hunter, and Kiley; sisters, Donna and her husband, Don Cheney, and Sally Jane and her husband, Frank Engels; sisters-in-law, Delma Davis, and Pat and her husband, Bill Car; and brother-in-law, John McGrew.
A celebration of David Hamilton MacDonald's life was held at Bear Valley Church in Tehachapi, on Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at 1 p.m. Services were officiated by David's best friend, Dr. R. Kent Hughes. Interment was on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Tehachapi Public Cemetery - Eastside. Funeral arrangements were made with the assistance of Wood Family Funeral Service.
