1926 - 2013
Marylyn Jean (Knudson, Oleson) Bible, 87, entered into rest on March 15, at Rose Garden Nursing Home in Bakersfield. A graveside service was held on Thursday, March 21, at Tehachapi Public Cemetery - Westside.
Marylyn was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Jan. 2, 1926, to Alfred William Knudson and Lillian Southam Knudson. She attended East High School, then the University of Utah, and the University of Southern California. She was first married to William Wiscomb Oleson, Sr. on Dec. 25, 1948; then to Boyd Leon Bible in April 1983.
During World War II, Marylyn worked at Hill Field Army Air Corps Base in Utah. After moving to California, she worked as a hairdresser, receptionist, and school crossing guard in and around the San Fernando Valley. She enjoyed reading, leading music, singing, going to church activities, sporting events, the beach and the swimming pool, having friends over, and attending wedding receptions and outdoor concerts. She also liked visiting relatives.
Marylyn is survived by an older brother, Alfred Knudson; a youngest sister, Darlene Knudson; older son, William W. Oleson, Jr.; and middle son, David Edward Oleson. Grandchildren are Eric William Oleson; Diane Lyn Lucas and her husband, Jeff, and their three children; Nathan Daniel, his wife and their four children; and Cameron Michael, his wife and two sons, with a daughter on the way. Stepchildren include Richard Bible and his wife, Brenda; Carl Bible and his wife, Terri; and Nancy Hansen and her husband, Michael.
Those who preceded her in death are first husband, William Wiscomb Oleson; brother-in-law, Jack Knudson; sister-in-law, Margaret Knudson; sister, Dorothy Burton; youngest son, John Victor Oleson; brother-in-law, Lamar Burton; and second husband, Boyd Leon Bible.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marylyn’s memory to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Wood Family Funeral Service is handling the arrangements. For condolences please visit www.woodmortuary.net.
