David Alan Roderick
1946 -- 2012
David Alan Roderick died peacefully at home on July 7 after a brave fight against lung cancer.
David was born in Hollywood to Charles W. Roderick and Dorothy N. Klein. He will be missed dearly by his loving wife, Denise of 25 years. David loved and was loved by his children, Deborah and David Schurr, Amy and Josh Green, David C. Rederick, Brian Henry, grandson, Anthony Schurr, and unborn granddaughter, Lyra Green.
He was survived by brother, John Rederick, and sisters Donna Ballard, Karla Stuart, and Jennifer Holman, and many nieces and nephews. Also left behind to cherish his memory are many wonderful in-laws; parents, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, as well as many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Roderick and mother, Dorothy Klein.
David started his career as a general contractor and developer in Ventura and Oxnard before moving to Bear Valley Springs where he met and married his wife, Denise. He was not only a talented contractor and businessman, he was a gifted building designer. He designed and built many homes in the Tehachapi area that are cherished homes to all his clients. David was trusted, fair and honest employer and businessman. If you had the pleasure to work for him or alongside him as an associate or sub-contractor, he always made sure that everyone profited from his projects. Always ready with advice and answers, David was a friend, mentor, and father figure to all.
He will be deeply missed by many on this earth, but he leaves with us memories and keepsakes found in his building and the footprints he has left behind. As requested by David no services will be provided. His only wishes were that everyone who knew him live a happy and successful life.
