Archie Douglas "Doug" Miller
1936 — 2013
Doug was born on Sept. 20, 1936, in Lindsay, to his loving parents, Archie and Josefine Miller. Doug proudly served in the United States Army, serving in Stuttgart, Germany, as an MP and prison guard. He married the love of his life, Bonnie Root, on June 1, 1962. Doug and Bonnie were blessed with two sons, Doug and Greg Miller. Doug died Sept. 19.
Doug worked as a fireman for the City of Alhambra for 12 years, and they later moved to Tehachapi in 1987, where they both began their careers as correctional officers. Doug retired from California Correctional Institution in 2005.
They have always been devoted to their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and have lived their faith daily. It was their faith that saw them through the many trials that were put before them. These trials only served to strengthen their faith and their love for one another. During the course of their marriage and all through Doug’s battle with Alzheimer's, they drew strength from God’s Word and cherished Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Doug is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Miller; his sister, Barbara Denton; and brother, Jerry Miller; his son, Doug Miller and Sandra Miller; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nancy and Bill Rigg; numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and -nephews. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Josefine; and his son, Greg. Doug and Bonnie were blessed with five grandchildren, Becky Mathis and her husband, Andrew; Brittany Miller; Cody Miller and his wife, Taylor; Israel Meir; and Elisha Gutierrez; and eight great-grandchildren.
