Alvin Alonzo Gary

Alvin Alonzo Gary of Pauls Valley, Okla. was born to Roy and Jewell (Watson) Gary on Aug. 10, 1926, in Wapanucka, Okla., and passed from this life on Oct. 28, in Lexington, Okla. at the age of 87.
Alvin grew up and spent his early days in Wapanucka. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II from Jan. 17, 1945, in the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper until Oct. 3, 1946. He acquired his G.E.D. in Tehachapi, where he worked as a first class repairman at Monolith Portland Cement Co.
Alvin retired in 1980 after 34 years of service and then moved to Allen, Okla., before moving to Pauls Valley in 2005.
He loved to raise cattle and farm. Alvin was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. Gary is survived by his wife, Wilma Gary of the home; sons, Rick Gary and wife Louise of Pauls Valley, Okla., and David Gary and wife Terrie of Paul Valley, Okla.; daughter, Cheri Wanier and husband Harvey of San Angelo, Texas; brothers, Bill Gary of Hale Center, Texas, Gene Gary of Tehachapi, and Robert King of Atwood, Okla.; sisters, Rachael Walker of Austin, Texas, Loretta Gary of Vacaville and Christine West of Atwood, Okla.; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Gary was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Gary; father, Roy Gary, and mother and step-father, Jewel King and husband Hugh; brother, Lavoise Gary; sister, Naomi Ward; brother, Lester Gary; and great-grandchild, Hayden Sisk.
Memorial services were scheduled for Friday, Nov. 1, at 1 p.m. at the Atwood Church of the Nazarene. Arrangements for cremation are under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home. You may send a condolence to the family at woosterfuneralhomes.com.
