Michael Boyd Henley

Tehachapi resident Mike Henley was born July 20, 1945, in Sioux Rapids, Iowa and passed away Feb. 4. He battled several illnesses for the past three months, and cancer for two years.

Mike served his country in the United States Navy for 26 years.

It was 1966 in beautiful Hawaii that he married Linda, his young sweetheart bride and started a family. While often being deployed on an aircraft carrier, he would make certain to keep in contact with loved ones.

After living in Hawaii, Florida, Texas and several ports along Southern California Mike retired from the Navy and became a correctional officer for the State of California. In his free time, Mike enjoyed anything and everything that dealt with technology and was a constant source of information to those around him. He truly enjoyed spending time with the youngest members of the family and was the bedrock for everyone.

Michael Boyd Henley is survived by his wife Linda Henley, brothers Mitch (Denise) Henley and Tony (Peggy) Henley, his daughter Donna (Mario) Vera, two granddaughters and one great granddaughter.

Smooth sailing, Mike, you are loved and will be thought of often.

Wind Energy

  1. Planning down on the ranch

The news that the Pahnamid Wind Energy project has been withdrawn from the County Planning Office is good news to most of us up here on the mountain. After spending several million dollars between the City of Tehachapi’s General Plan, the County’s Specific Plan, and the Kern Council of Government’s “Blueprint,” it would be foolish to start making zoning changes at the first opportunity.
