Jo Nell Burgett
Jo Nell Burgett, age 71, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 28 at San Joaquin Hospital in Bakersfield. She was a long-time resident of Simi Valley, but spent the last eight years in Tehachapi, after the death of her husband of 44 years, Vern Burgett. She chose Tehachapi so that she could be near her daughter, Wendy Carr, and grandchildren.
Jo was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She had a huge heart and loved to make people happy with her delicious recipes. You always left her home with a happy heart and very full tummy. She also was a talented artist and loved nothing more than sharing her paintings with family and friends. Another gift that she loved to share was her sewing and quilt making. Jo’s world was her grandchildren. She loved nothing more than spoiling them and making them happy.
Jo is survived by her daughter, Wendy Carr; and son-in-law, John Carr both of Tehachapi; their three children, Jordan, Emilee, and Brogan; her son, Mike Burgett; and daughter-in-law, Janice Burgett; and their two children, Ronnie Burgett and Randi Burgett; as well as by her sister, Anna Lee Clark; and brother, Clyde German.
She left the world with the utmost courage and grace. Jo’s generous heart and giving spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
Although we will miss her greatly, knowing that she is with our Lord Jesus Christ is a comfort.
