1932 – 2014
Carmen Galindo, 81, passed away peacefully in her home in Tehachapi on Jan. 20, 2014. Carmen was a 52-year resident of Tehachapi. She was born to parents Jose and Margarita Rodriguez in Canatlan, Durango, Mexico, on June 10, 1932. Carmen married Rafael E. Galindo in January of 1958, and spent 40 wonderful years with him until his passing in 1998.
Carmen was a homemaker and excelled in the kitchen. Her dishes were renowned around the neighborhood, and she always had an open seat for friends and family at her dinner table. Carmen was also a very talented seamstress. She was sought out by friends, family, and fellow parishioners for garment alterations and repairs.
Carmen was a devout and involved parishioner of St. Malachy Catholic Church. She was also a longtime member of the St. Malachy Guadalupanas.
Carmen is survived by her sister, Luz Chavez of Plainview Texas; daughter, Rose Charmley of Bakersfield; sons, Rafael Jr. and his wife, Twana of Rancho Cucamonga, Hugo and his wife, Nanja of Tehachapi; grandsons, Tom and Joseph; and great-grandson, Jayden, all of Bakersfield.
Rosary will be held at St. Malachy Catholic Church on Jan. 30th, at 6 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held on Jan. 31, at 9 a.m., also at St. Malachy. Interment at Tehachapi Public Cemetery - Westside will follow. There will be a reception at St. Malachy Church. Wood Family Funeral Service is handling the arrangements.
