Helen Rushing was born in Mason, Okla., on Nov. 29, 1929. In the 1950s, she moved to Corcoran.
In 1970, she moved to Bakersfield, where she worked at Bill Lee’s Bamboo Chopsticks for more than 30 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents James and Ella Montgomery; her husband, Hurshel Rushing; and son Buddy Gear. Helen has two daughters, Carolyn and husband David Watson of Tehachapi and Linda and husband Larry Hopkins of Cleveland, Tex. Also, three sons, Jerry and Ronny Gear of Bakersfield and Leon and wife Kim Gear of Alpaugh. She is also survived by her sister Lorane Thurman of Yale, Okla., 16 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at a later time. Arrangements were handled by Mish Funeral Home.
