1953 — 2013

Family and friends of lifelong Tehachapi resident James Dennis Ramos, 59, mourned their loss on Aug. 5, 2013, as a result of a motorcycle accident. Jim was a loving father, husband, brother, son and friend, and he lived his life in an honest and respectful way that made his family proud.
Jim was born on Nov. 27, 1953, to Leo and Laura Ramos, and was raised in Tehachapi and attended Tehachapi schools. He graduated from Tehachapi High in 1971 and attended Bakersfield College and later Humboldt State University in Arcata, California, receiving his Associate of Arts and Bachelors degrees.
Jim married Debbie Peterson on Dec. 22, 1984, and together they raised their children Rob, Sarah, James and Daniel. Jim loved riding offroad vehicles, including his motorcycles, quads and a sand rail with his family and friends. His interest in motorcycles included reading motorcycle magazines and watching motorcycle racing. He also liked camping, football and baseball, exercising and lifting weights regularly and enjoyed taking walks and watching science fiction movies.
Family was central to Jim's life and he took care of his family with great detail. Jim had a quiet spirit and was always dependable, considerate, loyal and strong. He gave everything to his family and was respected and loved by a large circle of friends and family.
Jim leaves behind his beloved wife Debbie, his children Rob and Joslyn Armstrong, Sarah Robison, James Ramos II and Daniel Ramos, his four grandchildren Ariah, Hannah, Jillian and McKayla, as well as his brothers Rick and David, sister-in-law Susan Mancusco, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Laura Ramos, brother Mike Mancuso, niece Joscelyn Cervantes and uncles Albert Munguia and Gilbert Cervantes.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, Aug. 17 at noon at the Cavalry Chapel on Highline Road near Tehachapi-Willow Springs Road.
