Consuelo Olds McCullough
1951 – 2014
Consuelo Olds McCullough, 63, of Tehachapi, went to heaven on July 1, 2014.
Consuelo was born to George and the late Fabiola Olds, Feb. 2, 1951, in Hollywood. She was christened Consuelo Maria Olds. She graduated from Van Nuys High School in 1969, and was awarded her BA in Spanish from UCLA in 1973. She married Glenn Harold McCullough in 1988. They lived in the West San Fernando Valley for 15 years before relocating to Tehachapi.
Connie, as friends knew her, touched the hearts of everyone she met, but her greatest passion was children. Along with a family in Guatemala, she created The Friendship Club, an organization that shipped clothes and toys to the poor children of La Vega, Guatemala. She shipped numerous boxes, each three cubic feet in size, each year until her move to Tehachapi limited her involvement.
Additionally, after retiring from the Los Angeles County Health Department after 26 successful years, Connie began her second career as a Spanish teacher, until cancer prevented her from teaching. Her first position was at West Valley Christian School, later moving to Carden School of Tehachapi and Tehachapi High School, and finally Heritage Oaks Baptist School. Connie strived to always make learning FUN! She also merged her love of children with her love of flying in the local Civil Air Patrol squadrons by fulfilling the role of Aerospace Education Officer, even organizing Aviation Camps at her home in Tehachapi.
She is survived by her two children, Kathleen Helm and Russell McCullough; and her husband, Glenn McCullough.
Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Aug. 9, 2014 at Country Oaks Baptist Church of Tehachapi.
