1922 — 2013
Andrew (Andy) Chylewski passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 03, 2013, at the age of 91.
Andy was born in Chicago and was a long-time resident of Bear Valley Springs.
He served his country in the United States Army in World War II and loved the outdoors and sports, particularly baseball.
At the age of 80 he began playing in BVS's senior softball league, which he continued to play in until he was about 85.
Was Andy tenacious? Absolutely. His quick wit never ceased to amaze and entertain us.
Anyone who knew or had even just met him, would remark "how old is he?" His grandchildren would always say that their grandparents just didn't move like other grandparents. Andy also loved to dance and his children have many fond memories of watching their parents dancing together.
Andy was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
One of his greatest joys was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He attended piano recitals, school plays and other events. He was so proud of them and loved talking to them about what they going on in their lives.
He was a devout Catholic and longtime member of the Knights of Columbus.
Andy was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Helen. He is survived by their three children, Greg Chylewski of Idaho, Cindie Escabi and Nora Winn both of California; his brother Monsignor Anthony Chylewski (ret.) of California; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He will be forever missed.
Services, to be announced, will be held at St. Malachy Catholic Church located at 321 W. “F” St., Tehachapi.
