Betty Louise Senior
1928 — July 16
Longtime Tehachapi resident Betty Louise Senior, who died July 16, was born on May 23, 1928, in Denver, Colo., the daughter of Dewey and Vella Smith.
The family later moved to California and she graduated from Excelsior High School in Long Beach. During WWII, while in high school, she worked as a riveter. After moving to Tehachapi she worked at Gong's Rexall for many years.
She was a loving wife to husband Gerald "Caddy" Senior for 50 years.
A loving mother and friend, she enjoyed sewing and made beautiful outfits for herself and her daughters when they were young.
Gardening and cooking were other hobbies and she loved to cook for and entertain her family and friends, hosting many family reunions on Mother's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
She enjoyed traveling to Europe and many fun trips to Laughlin and Las Vegas with family in addition to going on a cruise with granddaughter Gina and daughter Christine.
She also loved to dance and loved to laugh. She was a beautiful, loving and kind woman who will be missed by all of her family and friends.
Betty is survived by daughters Christine Brewer and husband Dan, Karen Yeager and husband Bart, and Laura Merritt and husband Allen, as well as a brother Jack Smith and wife Marie of Oregon. She has 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by brothers Tom Smith and Bill Smith and her husband, Gerald.
