Barbara Ann Speziale, (nee) Schulgen
1938 – 2014
Barbara Ann Speziale, (nee) Schulgen, was called home to be with The Lord on May 17, 2014, after a brief, but difficult battle with lung cancer. Barbara was a fighter, having survived breast cancer twice. She always maintained a positive attitude and projected a loving, caring energy that affected everyone she knew and made everyone feel better just being in her presence.
Barbara was born in San Antonio, Texas, where her Father was a Colonel in the Air Force and her Mother was a Registered Nurse. She had three brothers and because of the merciless teasing she received at their hands, she learned how to take care of herself and how to be tough. She grew up an "air force brat" and because of this she had a very colorful, educational, and varied childhood. She lived in many places and experienced many cultures. When her father retired to Miami, Fla., that is where Barbara settled and attended the University of Miami. While attending school there, she met Bill Peacon who she married and had four children with.
Barbara enjoyed a modeling career with her husband and family. She was also a member of many social clubs, while being a homemaker and raising her four kids. She enjoyed water skiing and horseback riding, as well.
In 2003, she relocated to Phoenix, AZ where she pursued the greatest joy of her life and that was being a grandmother to Tiffany, Alex and Dani.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Colonel William A. Schulgen, Stella C. Schulgen, brother, John Michael Schulgen and brother Robert Schulgen.
Barbara is survived by her brother William Schulgen and sister-in-law Shotzy, sister-in-law, June Schulgen, daughter, Vicki Peacon, son, Jeff Peacon, daughter-in-law, Connie Peacon, granddaughters Tiffany Said, Alexandria Peacon and Danielle Peacon, daughter, Valerie Peacon, and son, John Peacon, and grandsons Cole Peacon and Jake Peacon, as well as many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews who adored her.
