1957 – 2014
Alan Edward Staabs, 56, passed away on May 19, 2014, at home in Tehachapi. He was born on Aug. 28, 1957 in Burbank to Marvin and Mavis Staabs.
Alan graduated from North Hollywood High School in Los Angeles in 1975. He was an avid and accomplished aviator with over 40 years experience. After high school Alan worked in many flying jobs until joining the Federal Aviation Administration in January 1983 where he worked as an Air Traffic Controller until his death. He enjoyed flying, World War II aircraft modeling, old movies, traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was actively involved in AYSO for many years.
Alan is survived by his father Marvin, sons Scott and Jason and his wife Britany and their mother, Virginia Semonious Staabs, his wife Susan and her son Jeremy Marmet and his wife Jennifer and his grandchildren, Alana, Angel, Cassian, Chloe, Ema, Jett, Joshua, Lilith, Mia, Nicholas and Zara.
Alan never lost his love of flying. His wife will take him for his final flight scattering his ashes upon the wind off the coast of Catalina. A celebration of life will be held with friends and family at the end of summer.

Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73123-1718 or the Tehachapi Relay for Life Event happening July 12-13, 2014 in Tehachapi. Alan was a member of the Cancer Cops Relay team. Alan’s family wishes to thank Comprehensive Blood and Cancer Center in Bakersfield, California, specifically Dr. Ravi Patel and his staff, and Hoffmann Hospice, as well as Wood Family Funeral Services.
