Surrounded by his loving family, Donald Eugene Ward, peacefully and gracefully passed away at his home on Dec. 17. He is survived by his beautiful and faithful bride of 69 years, Dorothy Ward; his three daughters, Dixie Hustead, Donnie Ward, and Dale Martin; son-in-law, David Martin; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; with two more on the way.
His legendary life included interests in philosophy, science and spirituality. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, a poet, inventor, writer, risk taker, entrepreneur, singer, and seeker of truth and adventure. His athletic interests through the years included handball, boxing, endurance horse racing, scuba diving, sky diving, and much more.

Melba Ruth Dykes Metzler passed away on Nov. 23 2014.
Melba leaves her two sons and many grand children, and many dear friends. She was married to William Dykes for 37 years and raised his two sons Bob and Mike. After he passed away, she married Robert Metzler and they were married for 18 wonderful years. Robert passed away eight years ago. All of Melba's friends and family will miss her.

Patrick Eugene McElderry was born in Burbank at St. Joseph's Hospital in 1957. He was the first son of Kenneth Eugene and Ada Darlene McElderry. He predeceased by his father, Kenneth; and his younger brother, Daniel. Patrick attended Canyon High School in Canyon Country.
Patrick worked for ten years in shipping and receiving at a large company in Mukilteo, Wash., which he enjoyed very much. He also worked in the roofing industry in Seattle. He injured his back in a fall from a roof which kept him from working a steady job. He also loved working on motorcycles, dune buggies and old cars with his father. They enjoyed riding dirt bikes together.

Services for Lt. Magdaleno "Mike" Lara will begin with a funeral mass at 6 p.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at St. Malachy Catholic Church, 407 W. E St. A viewing and a memorial service to celebrate Mike's life will be held at 8:30 a.m, on Thursday, Dec. 18, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 600 Anita Dr. The memorial service will begin at 9:30 a.m. Graveside services will be immediately after at Bakersfield National Cemetery in Arvin. William "Bill" Thomas Mason, Jr. of Tehachapi passed away at home with Hospice on Dec. 5.
Bill was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on Oct. 26, 1941 to parents William Mason, Sr. and Irene F. Mason (Webster).

Jim Grecian, age 77, passed away on Dec. 7 in Tehachapi. Jim was born to Floyd and Vola Grecian on Sept. 11, 1937, in Beloit, Kan. He spent his youth and teenage years in Beloit. He helped out with his younger brother and sister as they grew up.
He played basketball in school, was a Kansas champion golfer, went wheat cutting with his uncle and worked in a clothing store. He went to Kansas University and other colleges, received his teaching degree in the sciences, and taught and coached in Pittsburgh, Kansas.
In 1970, Jim moved to Tehachapi and began teaching Biology and coaching track, cross country and JV basketball. He married Nancy Lockhart in 1979. They celebrated 35 years of marriage this past August. His three wonderful daughters, Jennifer, Jamie and Julie have been his joy for many great years, and their husbands, Jack Hicks, Kyle Taylor and Joe Banigan, along with their kids, and the Grecian's great-grandkids have been a wonderful experience. Along with the families of Jerry and Teryl, Jim's brother and wife, Janet and Carl, Jim's sister and husband, there has been much enjoyment shared with nieces and nephews on vacations. Nancy's family, the Lockharts, also played a big part in Jim's life.
