This year, Christina’s 4th Annual Fundraiser to WAGE HOPE to find a cure for pancreatic cancer raised $20,049. Major Jason E. George VFW 12114 (Tehachapi's other VFW Post) will issue a check in the amount of $20,049 to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
We are forever grateful to all the people who bought tickets, made cash and silent auction donations, and businesses that participated. Without their generosity, the fundraiser would not have been as successful.
The following organizations also have graciously participated: American Legion 221 and Legion Auxiliary 221. The members of the auxiliary bought, prepared and served dinner. They have been with us for the last three years and contributed so much to our success.
This year, the newly-formed American Legion Riders Post 221 and Women of the Moose have joined our efforts. The Legion Riders put together a poker run in two months and it was very successful. The riders donated 100 percent of the proceeds. The Women of the Moose were very helpful in selling tickets.
Southern Shooters played a very important role in our fundraiser. They took the responsibility of accepting the rifle from Henry Repeating Arms, displaying it in their shop, selling tickets and handling the transfer to the new owner. To Candy and Butch of Southern Shooters, thank you very much.
A heartfelt thanks to Jerry Mulkins for putting a band together again for the third year. Our sincere appreciation to Maria Werth, Jimmy Phillips, Jerry Mulkins and Tracy Barnes (who once again came from Nevada) and donated their time to play for us.
The members of Major Jason E. George VFW 12114 are very grateful and are thankful. What a great effort by everyone in WAGING HOPE. May God Bless all the people of Tehachapi and surrounding communities who bought tickets, made donations and businesses that participated. We will be forever grateful.
