We've had no official word from Kern County Fire Dept. or CalFire since the morning briefing, but we understand the change to CalFire command will take place sometime this afternoon.
In the meantime, more resources are arriving, the aerial firefighting effort is underway and things look much better to us than they did yesterday at this time with much less wind and a bit of a cloud cover which seems to be keeping things cooler. We have confirmed two structures lost on Old West Ranch and are gathering information which we'll include in a later update.

We are working on a couple of very interesting stories with photos and will post these as soon as they're complete. We've also received numerous great photos from readers and are working to get these posted. Thank you all!
