The Indians had a strong showing last week in the AV Freshmen Winter Bash in the Desert Tourney, finishing with three wins and third-place honors, overall.
Tehachapi (3-1) defeated Littlerock (forfeit), Antelope Valley (63-35) and Desert Christian (56-35), falling to Eastside-Lancaster (50-37) for their only tournament loss.
Against Antelope Valley, Drew Campbell had 10 points and Tyler O’Brien had nine points to lead all scorers.
In the win over Desert Christian, Casey Wood and O’Brien each had 11 points, while Luke DeBrunyne scored six points and Aaron Swain had four points.
“We have three players over six feet (tall) and a bunch of players that are good ball handlers, outside shooters along with some guys that can do well in the paint,” said head coach Moe Cramer. “They are showing some good stuff.”
In the Indians' only loss against Eastside, Wood led the team with 10 points, followed by Max Meza with five points. Elijah Pete, O’Brien and Campbell also each added a three-pointer.
In all four games combined, Cody Main had a strong presence inside with several rebounds and three points per game, while Manuel Flores also averaged three points per game.
The Indians will play again this Tuesday, Dec. 5 in a 4 p.m. game against Burroughs-Ridgecrest. Tip off will be at 4 p.m
