Tehachapi Valley Wrestling Club Sent three of its middle school wrestlers to the Dinuba Invitational on Jan. 26.

Michael Murillo had some of his toughest matches on his way to winning the champion trophy at 142 pounds. Placing second was Levi Hart at 95 pounds. Also competing was Reese Hart at 100 pounds.

TVWC traveled to Corcoran on Feb. 2 for the California Republic Super State. Owen Schneider won the 54 pound 8 and under bracket and was also named “Outstanding Wrestler” for the 8 and under division. Michael Murillo also won his 158 bracket. Murillo had won the Cal Republic in December and in this event, he was named “Champion of Champions” for the 12 and under 158 pound division. Jake Brown lost a close match in the 8 and under 46 pound class for a second-place finish. Other second-placer wrestlers were Reese Hart, Ella Schneider and Levi Hart. Gabriel Mesa finished the day with a fourth-place medal. Others competing were Noe Mesa, Kayden Gonzales and Michael Brown.

TVWC have two more weeks of their Folkstyle season and will be taking sign-ups during practice for Freestyle at the high school wrestling room on Feb. 26 and Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. This is for new wrestlers to join the spring season. For more information. contact Curtis Nelson 557-1366.
