THS cross-country kicked off the 2016-2017 season hosting five other schools in the annual Beat the Heat Meet on the Brite Lake 2- and 3-mile course.
No official scoring was kept, but THS held their own finishing third overall behind Wasco and Ridgeview. Early season highlights included senior Brandon Janney (20:25) finishing 12th overall in the varsity boys' 3-mile run. On the Lady Warriors side, junior Jo Trillo (25:36) was 8th overall in the 3-mile varsity girls' run.
On the 2-mile JV course, freshman Ella Moomey (16:25) opened the season finishing first overall and newcomer junior Cloie Sharp (18:00) was fifth overall. For the Braves, freshman Travis Lee Sturckgow (13:01) was also first overall on the 2-mile course in the boys' division.
THS cross-country heads to Burroughs High School in Ridgecrest on Tuesday, Sept. 5 for a preseason dual meet, and then travels to Independence High School on Saturday, Sept. 9 to compete in the Falcon Invitational.
