The Warriors girls volleyball team returned home this week, and they could only hope that also would mark a return to the winner’s circle.
The Tehachapi girls got off to a rough South Yosemite League start last week, losing matches at Independence and at East Bakersfield, both by 3-0 scores.
That left the Warriors with a 4-17 record, 0-2 in league, going into league matches at home against Golden Valley on Tuesday, Oct. 13, and Ridgeview on Thursday, Oct. 15.
Scores of the match against Independence on Tuesday, Oct. 6, were 25-12, 25-13, 25-20 as they finally were able to get some offense going in the third set.
Lauren Nousch led the Warriors with four kills. Presslee Gallegos had seven assists, and Paige Parker had six.
At East Bakersfield, the Warriors lost by scores of 25-16, 25-19, 25-13.
Emily Soto had six kills, and freshman Mady Cotta had four along with three service aces. Gallesgos led in assists with 10.
Like Tehachapi, Golden Valley was 0-2 in league going into the week, while Ridgeview had a 1-0 league mark.
