Swimming charges to win over North; THS registers a convincing win over the Stars

Ariana Benham helped Tehachapi sweep gold in every event by taking first place in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:49.40. The Lady Warriors dominated the Stars in the team standings, 125-37.

Megan Stout swims the first leg of the 400 freestyle relay, helping THS to a first place finish with a time of 4:47.08. Stout also took first place in the 200 freestyle relay and second place in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle.

Tehachapi showed their strength in the pool just prior to Easter break with a league meet victory over North, with the Warriors coming away with a 130-39 victory and the Lady Warriors winning, 125-37.

In the men's division, THS swept first place in the 200 medley relay (Andrew Sparling, Sean Banks, Alan Ayers, Brayton Teare -- 1:54.93), 200 freestyle (Andrew Bartels -- 2:12.25), 200 individual medley (Sean Banks -- 2:18.83), 50 freestyle (Alan Ayers -- 24.57), 100 butterfly (Alan Ayers -- 1:02.66), 100 freestyle (Andrew Sparling -- 55.64), 500 freestyle (Andrew Bartels -- 6:16.93), 200 freestyle relay (Brayton Teare, Zach Gaylord, Josh Sparling, Andrew Bartels -- 1:45.72), 100 backstroke (Tyler Tyree -- 1:19.27), 100 breaststroke (Sean Banks -- 1:09.01) and 400 freestyle relay (Andrew Sparling, Josh Sparling, Sean Banks, Alan Ayers -- 3:53.45).

In the women's division, the Lady Warriors swam to first place finishes in the 200 medley relay (Kylee Blackburn, Morgan Stewart, Vanessa Neang, Morgan Maiden -- 2:26.00), 200 freestyle relay (Shawnee Villarreal -- 3:25.44), 200 individual medley (Megan Barnes -- 3:15.95), 50 freestyle (Jasmine Delgadillo -- 33.02), 100 butterfly (Ariana Benham -- 1:49.40), 100 freestyle (Shawnee Villarreal -- 1:26.33), 500 freestyle (Emerson Fisher -- 7:57.33), 200 freestyle relay (Amanda Stout, Jasmine Delgadillo, Megan Stout, Morgan Maiden -- 2:09.76), 100 backstroke (Martina Sevegnani -- 1:36.25), 100 breaststroke (Megan Barnes -- 1:40.46) and 400 freestyle relay (Megan Stout, Morgan Stewart, Kylee Blackburn, Vanessa Neang -- 4:47.08).

Tehachapi also recently competed in a non-league dual meet with Burroughs-Ridgecrest, with the varsity men narrowly losing to Burros 91-78 and the varsity women losing 137-33.

Highlights from the meet included first place showings by Alan Ayers (50 freestyle and 100 butterfly), Sean Banks (200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke) and Andrew Sparling (100 freestyle and 100 backstroke).

The Warriors will be in action again this Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. in Dye Natatorium, hosting a SEYL meet with Highland. THS will also participate in the Garces Invitational this Saturday at Bakersfield College, starting at 8:30 a.m.
