Mountain Baseball elected to take advantage of their spring break by taking on some of the bigger schools in California at the Fresno Easter Classic.
The output was not ideal for the Warriors in four losses to Edison 8-5, Reedley 3-1, Carlmont-Belmont 15-5 and Central 4-2, but Tehachapi (7-11; 3-1 SEYL) gained valuable experience heading into the heart of their league schedule.
Eric Johnson led Tehachapi in the loss over Edison by going 2-3 with a run scored. Singles and runs scored also came from Tyler Huebner, Justin Amparan and Michael Cole, while Davin Domingo also had a run scored. Reid Feeley pitched just over four innings, recording four strikeouts.
Against Reedley, Huebner went 2-3 with a double and a run scored, with doubles also coming from Brandon Ursua and David Carter. Cade Temple pitched just over five innings and had three strikeouts in the loss.
The Warriors had nine hits overall in the loss to Carlmont-Belmont, with Steven Nielsen, Dakota Medovitch, Zach Wagner and Carter each recording two hits each and Wagner and Medovitch scoring twice and Nielsen registering a double. Ryan Hanzel and David Wier split time on the mound and combined for two strikeouts.
In the tourney finale over Central, Ursua had a homerun, Nash Franko and Nathan Hedberg recorded doubles and Hiroto Sagawa, Cole and Domingo had singles in the loss. Cater pitched a complete game by going seven innings and striking out eight batters, giving up only four hits and two earned runs.
