Lady Braves win SEYL championship

The Lady Braves Softball team went undefeated in the regular season to win the SEYL championship. Junior Varsity softball achieved perfection by finishing their regular season undefeated en route to a Southeast Yosemite League championship.

Tehachapi (17-4; 10-0 SEYL) had a dominant year, recording an astounding 292 runs and closing the season with a 12-game winning streak.

In the last week of the regular season, the Lady Braves closed out the year with an impressive 17-2 victory over Foothill and a 16-0 mercy-rule win over Garces.

Shelby Ricker, Brooke Sasia, Kennedie Onufrak and Vanessa Swan each had homeruns in the win over Foothill, with Payton Jones also recording two triples and a double.

Against Garces, Ricker had three doubles and three RBIs, scoring two runs. Sasia also had a double, three RBIs and two runs scored and Una Abarquez pitched a complete game in the circle, striking out seven batters.

Playing for Tehachapi this year was Kennedie Onufrak, Brooke Sasia, Shelby Ricker, Payton Jones, Vanessa Swan, Daisy Hernandez, Una Abarquez, Bayla Borquez, Kaylee Podratz, Alexie Adams and Kayleigh Brailey.

Coaches for the Lady Braves this season were Becky and Joe Sasia.
