The Gryphon Girls finished league play with a record of 5-7-2. Destinee Griswold lead the team in scoring with 15 goals. The girls did well this season. Playing in a boys league was a great learning experience for everyone involved. The team was guided by strong leadership. Lea Mason, Micah Mason, Destinee Griswold, Kathrine McKay, Kamryn Burdick and Alex Padilla are the girls who have been around the longest. They took the new girls under thier wings, which made the transition from AYSO to competitve soccer easier than normal. The team had some great additions along the way including Molly Miller (keeper), Madysen Rails (defender), Rachel Miller (defender), Emma Burdick (midfield), Madison Howell (defender), KK Howell (forward), Courtney Snell (defender) Cassidy Wildey (defender), Cali Mason (forward), and Delia Garza (midfield). "Unfortunately, being from a small town, we have a broad age range, 4th grade to 8th grade, so we have to play up to the oldest age which is U14. The girls enjoyed the challenge and know it is only going to make them better as they reach the high school level", said team manger Crissy Perris. "I would like to thank the girls and their parents for all their hard work and comittment to a successful season. Playing against boys was a huge step for our girls. We have a very talented group of girls and if they keep up the hardwork the sky is the limit for this group. The effort that some of these girls give is priceless", said coach Josh Perris. The girls play next on the central coast in the Orcutt Cup Tournament Jan. 26 and 27.
