Two more SSL foes defeated: Arvin and Taft succumb to volleyball in league play
The Lady Warriors secured another week of wins and are on the cusp of another 20-win season after dispatching Arvin and Taft last week in Southern Sierra League action.
Tehachapi (19-10; 6-2 SSL) went the distance against Arvin in a 23-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-23, 15-6 marathon win. Delaney Dragomanovich had 28 assists and Jade Delgadillo 22 assists and seven aces in the win. Destiny Julye was the leader in kills with 15, followed by Kim Smith with 14 kills, Taylor Cross with 12 kills and Tiffany Short with eight kills. Kayleigh Jarrett was the leader in digs with four.
Mountain Volleyball closed the week at home last Thursday with a solid win against Taft, defeating the Wildcats 25-17, 25-19, 25-21.
Julye had 11 kills and eight blocks on the night, while Smith had nine kills and Cross six kills.
Carley Cass led the way in aces with three against the Lady Bears, while Jarrett had eight digs and Tarryn Macon six digs.
Dragomanovich and Samantha Wallace each logged in 11 assists.

Junior Varsity
The Lady Braves are on pace to secure Tehachapi High’s second league title of the fall season, thanks in part to a pair of two-game sweeps over Arvin and Taft last week.
Tehachapi (8-0 SSL) defeated Arvin 25-11 and 25-20 behind eight kills from Elayna Cramer, four kills from Kendall Kapitzke and three kills each from Kelsey Schoenberg and Madeline Orellana.
Cheyanne Anderson also had two aces and seven assists, while Orellana had nine assists. Miranda Wert led the team in digs with five on the afternoon.
Later on in the week, the Lady Braves also defeated Taft 25-13, 29-27 behind nine kills from Cramer, six kills from Kapitzke, five kills from Orellana and four kills from Kyla Reed.
Briana Gutierrez led the team with three aces, Kapitzke had four blocks, Katie Neufeld and Katie Parker each had three digs and Shelby Freise had two digs.
Frosh-Soph
The Lady Indians recorded a thrilling 14-25, 25-22, 16-14 win over Arvin last week to improve their league record to 4-4 overall.
Alexis Mason had five kills and Brooke Boyd four kills and two blocks to lead the way in the win. Alanna Bell, Emily Mejia and Brenna DeZubiria all had three aces and Tiffany Rea and Ariana Benham also had aces in the match.
Tehachapi lost a tightly contested 25-21, 25-23 match to Taft to close out the week, but despite the loss the Lady Indians had strong performances from Brooke Boyd with four kills and Ana Gomez and Shelby Ricker each with one kill. Ricker also led the team with two aces.
